Delete your BeiStar account
You can delete your BeiStar Chinese account and all data tied to it at any time, directly in the app.
In the app
- Open BeiStar Chinese and sign in.
- Go to Settings.
- Under Account, tap Manage account, then Delete account.
- Read what deletion removes, then tap Delete my account and confirm.
Deletion is immediate and permanent. There is no grace period and no way to restore a deleted account.
What gets deleted
Everything tied to your account is removed at the moment of deletion:
- your email address and sign-in credentials (including Apple/Google sign-in links);
- all learning progress: completed sections and lessons, scores, vocabulary and review history, story reading history;
- favorites, settings, reading preferences, and avatar;
- subscription records held by us.
What is not deleted
- Purchase history at Apple or Google. Your subscription purchases live in your App Store or Google Play account under their policies. Deleting your BeiStar account does not cancel an active subscription; cancel it in your store account settings.
- Anonymized records. Records that Apple and Google send us about subscription events are kept for billing integrity but no longer link to you; the audit log of teacher access to classroom progress keeps its rows but they no longer reference any account. Neither contains your name or email.
- Reports and feedback you sent us. What you told us about a wrong pinyin, a broken screen, or the app in general is about the app, not about you, so it stays after your account goes, with the link to your account removed. If something you sent contains anything you would rather we did not keep, email us and we will take it down.
- Speaking-practice recordings were never stored to begin with; audio is scored in real time and discarded.
Class-card (school) accounts
Accounts created with a school class card belong to the school and hold no personal contact information: no email, no password, no real name required. The in-app delete option is not shown for them. To close one, ask your teacher or school to revoke the seat.
If you can't get into the app
Email support@beistar.app from the email address on your account and ask us to delete it. We will verify the request and delete the account, and confirm when it's done.
